In Maria-Clara Villa Lobos humorous look at the heavyweights of modern dance, a parallel is drawn in “XL” between material and cultural consumerism : structured like a fast-Food menu, featuring Big Mac Stuart and Pina Mac Nuggets, for a starter, in eccentric but recognizable imitations. Brazilian-Born Villa-Lobos pokes fun at what the dance industry has become –a competitive business like any other where only the fittest survive by offering the public more less and in record time.
